A documentary-style shooter is a very special breed of artist. Documentary photography and projects tell stories with images. The main difference between photojournalism and documentary style photography is that the latter is meant to serve as a historical document of a political or social era, wheras, photojournalism itself has deep roots in the FSA (Farm Security Administration), which was was incepted to do to photographh the situation in the dust bowl of migrant farm workers,. Documentary style photography stemmed from that agency, when literally a photographer AND a journalist would go out together to explore a story. That’s where we get the name photojournalism.
