My niece turned sixteen two weeks ago. My sister-in-law was excited for her to start driving and take over some of the errands, but when she went to put her on the insurance she was shocked at how much her rates went up. She told me that she can’t afford to let her daughter drive at those prices. Her company doesn’t give any discounts for teenagers, so there is no way for her to lower the premiums. I told her that I think she needs to get some car insurance quotations from other companies. I know that at least some of them give breaks for such things as driver’s education courses.
