A chief credit officer is responsible for undertaking all the credit risk modeling and analysis for lending. Duties include preparation of loan applications, submissions to credit committee, and managing portfolios for the credit accounts. A chief credit officer is responsible for adhering to the organizations credit policies and for maintaining a credit culture by following a prudent and disciplined approach. Such jobs are usually found with banks or financial organizations. A chief credit officer position requires a bachelors’ degree and extensive credit and financial analysis skills. Several years of experience in structuring, marketing, or controlling/credit decisions are generally required for such positions.
